Djokovic 'Disappointed' After Leaving Another Tournament Without Trophy

Novak Djokovic is going to leave another event in 2024 without a trophy, and he's quite disappointed with it.

Djokovic has made a name for himself in tennis by winning many trophies. He's a champion, and that's just what he does or has done most of his career. It's not what he's been doing this year, though, as he's without a single trophy so far in 2024, and that won't change at least until May.

However, he only played three events this year, which is not a lot. Still, he made two semi-finals (the Australian Open and Monte-Carlo Masters), and that's not a bad result at all. Of course, it's not what he's after, so he was disappointed with the loss to Casper Ruud.

"Well, of course I'm disappointed, you know, to lose a match like this. Was close one. Congratulations to Casper. He played really good, especially in the beginning of the first and third, as well. I had my chances, but yeah, last game was not great."

Djokovic accepted the loss in the context of the match. Ruud played a great match, and he deserved to win, according to Djokovic.

He himself played well at times and gave it his best, but ultimately, he didn't have enough to make it to the final of the ATP Masters 1000 event. He hopes to improve in the coming weeks and peak at Roland Garros. That was always the goal for him.

"Unforced errors and just he was solid I think until the last shot and deserved to win. My game was kind of up and down. I mean, the positive thing is that I kind of managed to come back after losing the first set and really find the strength in the game. So there are positives to take away from this tournament, for sure, but of course disappointed with the loss."
