Casper Ruud has been amazing so far in Indian Wells, but what can he do against equally impressive Gael Monfils?
Ruud has been playing a really impressive season so far with quite a few notable results so far. The Norwegian had a really bad season last year, and after ditching that odd preparation he had last year, he is thriving this year.
He's been pretty good at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells so far, but he's not had the toughest draw either. He's had an easier draw than his opponent, Monfils, who arguably was even more impressive compared to Ruud. He downed Hubert Hurkacz and Cameron Norrie en route to the fourth round and will now look to add another big win to his tally.
It's going to be pretty tough because he played over three hours against Norrie so he might be fatigued but let's see if he can really do it.
Head-to-head:
Monfils and Ruud have only played once so far, and it was a long time ago, in 2018 in Quito, with the French player winning in three sets. Many things changed since then, especially with Ruud who became a Top 10 regular.
Monfils is having a really good week so far, and he will certainly have a chance to win this match because of the way he plays. The Norwegian will be attacking, and the Frenchman will be defending, and the higher bounce will be helpful with that.

Prediction:
I don't really know whether Monfils will feel fresh after that marathon against Norrie, but if he does, then I do think he has a pretty good shot of winning the match. I don't think he will because I think he will feel fatigued, but it will be close.
Prediction: Casper Ruud to win in three sets.
