Casper Ruud is still playing great tennis, and he will now hope to secure a quarterfinal at the 2024 Madrid Open, though he'll have to go through Felix Auger-Aliassime to do so.
Ruud has had a tremendous season so far, with multiple finals and even a trophy. The trophy came last week at the Barcelona Open, where he avenged the Monte-Carlo Masters loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
He's still playing really well, which is impressive considering that this is his fourth week in a row that he's playing and not only playing but also going deep into events.
This will be his 13th match in 20 days across three cities that aren't really that close. He had to fly to all of them, so his ability to keep it up so well is very impressive. Auger-Aliassime also found a really good level this week.
Conditions in Madrid certainly benefit the Canadian player, who relies on his serve a lot. If he can get his serve to work, he'll be a much better player than usual, and so far this week, it's worked out well.
Head-to-head:
Ruud and Auger-Aliassime have played a few times already, and the Norwegian did pretty well in their matchups. He beat his opponent three times, but most of these matches were played a while ago.
The most recent meeting happened in 2022 at the ATP Finals, and Ruud won that one. Since then, they both had down years in 2023, but this year has been far better for Ruud, who is also favored to win this match as well.

Prediction:
Ruud is not only playing better tennis this week and this year, but he's also the better player on clay overall, which is why he should win this match.
Predicton: Casper Ruud to win in two sets.
