Casper Ruud is playing fascinating tennis right now, but it's the same with Alex de Minaur, and the two will meet in the 2024 Mexican Open final.
The Norwegian has played a lot of tennis in recent weeks. He made it all the way to the Los Cabos final but lost to Jordan Thompson. He'll face another Australian in the Mexican Open final but in many ways, he played even better at this event.
The win over Ben Shelton was a tremendous performance, and his comeback win over Holger Rune certainly didn't disappoint either. De Minaur hasn't been bad either. The Azstrakuab won the event last year with a tremendous run, and he's doing the same thing this year.
His path featured far less complications then that of Ruud but hasn't looked unbeatable either. Both Stefanos Tsitsipas and more recently Jack Draper won sets against him so he can be beaten of course.
Head-to-head:
They only played once before and it was at the 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals with de Minaur winning that match. It's not a really good representative match but it demonstrated that back then the Australian was the better hard court player.
Today it's a bit different because Ruud is quite good on the surface, especially in the conditions like there are this week. Much will depend on how Ruud handles de Minaur's speed and whether he can consistently employ that deadly serve and forehand combo.

Prediction:
It's done wonders for him this week, and he'll need it badly in this one as well. De Minaur has ways to beat Ruud but it will requre a pretty strong effort. Ruud has been very serious this week even with the all the fatigue from having played so much.
Prediction: Casper Ruud to win in two sets.
