Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner: 2024 Indian Wells Open - Preview & Prediction

The most anticipated match of the 2024 Indian Wells Open is here, and it will see Carlos Alcaraz take on Jannik Sinner.

With Novak Djokovic out of the tournament, there was only one possible matchup left at the season's first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year that could attract millions to the TV screens.

Arguably the two players that will lead the upcoming generations, two players who already have a Grand Slam title in their early twenties, and two players, who have played each other already seven times on the ATP Tour.

Alcaraz is in incredible form in Indian Wells, and even his Australian Open nemesis Alexander Zverev couldn't stop him, as the Spaniard absolutely steamrolled past the German.

The same applies to Sinner as well. The Italian is yet to lose a set at the event, and not only that, he is yet to lose a single singles tennis match in 2024.

Head-to-head:

The two have met seven times already and each one of their meetings was a proper delight for the tennis fans watching. Before their first of the official seven Tour-level matches, they also met at the ATP Challenger event in Alicante, where both were granted a wild card, and Alcaraz won that match.

Since then, it was the Italian player who was more successful, but only slightly. He won four of the seven matches they played, and he's currently on a two-match winning streak against his fellow super talent.

Most recently, the two met in Beijing, where Sinner won easily in two sets, but last year, they met in both Indian Wells and Miami Open, and it's their Miami Open showdown that's remembered until this day.

That was won by the Italian, however, in Indian Wells, Alcaraz was the victorious player, as he went on to win the title afterward.

Prediction:

Virtually anything can happen in this match as their previous seven official meetings showed. Sinner is still unbeaten in 2024 and Alcaraz looked not at his peak prior to the tournament in Indian Wells.

However, it's very important to mention that the courts play perfectly into the Spaniard's qualities, and having beaten the Italian easily in two sets last year, he knows he has the advantage.

Although it should be a three-set spectacular showdown, Alcaraz could have the upper hand in this match, simply because of the courts favouring him.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
