Novak Djokovic is still playing unbelievable tennis despite soon turning 36 and Bjorn Borg predicts that he'll win a couple more majors.
Bjorn Borg knows how it feels to win a Grand Slam trophy as he lifted 11 of those in his career. However, after his retirement, a generation of the Big Three started and Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal both won twice as many majors as the Swede, lifting 22 Grand Slams.
Yet, their situation is very different at the moment. While Djokovic won five Grand Slams over the past three seasons, Nadal managed to win only two and that's also one of the reasons why Borg said on the ATP Tennis Podcast that the Serb may win one or two more in his career.
“Novak I think he might win one or two more Grand Slam tournaments, who knows, but what he is doing for tennis in general is unbelievable. He’s still pushing the limits, he wants to be the greatest, win more tournaments and break all the records in tennis history, he’s a fantastic player.”
Borg also talked about the importance of having the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic involved in the sport of tennis. While the Spaniard is struggling with injuries and may end his career earlier than his biggest rival, the Serb can go on for a few more years according to Borg.
"But to have these guys involved in tennis, you never know what Rafa is gonna do. Maybe play one more year. It's up to him mentally or his body or whatever. But Novak's gonna be around for a few more years and just enjoy the tennis."
Currently, both players are not competing on the ATP Tour as Djokovic wasn't allowed to enter the United States and Nadal fights an injury. But soon, we may see the two giants clash again as they both signed up for the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters.
