Carlos Alcaraz will finish the 2022 season as the year-end World No. 1 player. That was confirmed in the latest edition of the ATP Rankings.

Alcaraz didn't have a great end of the season. He hoped to do well at the Paris Masters and at the ATP Finals, but these two events turned into a nightmare for him.

The Spaniard was forced to retire from his match against Holger Rune in Paris, and as a result of the injury sustained in the French capital, Alcaraz had to pull out of the ATP Finals as well.

Thanks to the gap he created to the rest of his rivals during the season, Alcaraz was still able to top the standings in the year-end rankings. The teenager has a total of 6,820 points, which is 800 more than second Rafael Nadal.

Casper Ruud climbed up to the third spot again with 5,820 points, and he pushed Stefanos Tsitsipas down by one spot. The Greek player is fourth with 5,550 points. Novak Djokovic will end the year in the Top 5 after moving up three spots thanks to his undefeated run in Turin. The Serbian has 4,820 points.

The only player not to win a single match at the ATP Finals was a man who was the World No. 1 player this year, Daniil Medvedev, who concluded the year with 0 additional points. Because of that, he dropped down by two spots to the World No. 7 position with 4,065 points.

He's behind the sixth Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has 4,195 points. Andrey Rublev is eighth with 3,930 points, and even the ninth Taylor Fritz got to compete at the ATP Finals. He will finish the year as the World No. 9 with 3,355 points.

Hubert Hurkacz overtook Holger Rune as the World No. 10 player to end the 2022 season in the Top 10. The Polish player has 2,905 points.
