There were some big changes in the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings after the 2022 US Open, and the event's champion, Carlos Alcaraz, will enjoy seeing the new ranking.
Alcaraz completed what is a career dream for many at this year's US Open. At 19 years of age, the Spaniard won his maiden Grand Slam title, and thanks to doing that, he also became the youngest World No. 1 player in the history of the ATP Tour.
Alcaraz leads the newest edition of the ATP Rankings with 6,740 points to his name. His final opponent in New York, Casper Ruud, could have reached the top spot himself had he won the final match.
Since the Norwegian lost, he occupies the World No. 2 position. His lead over third Rafael Nadal is only 40 points. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has 5,810 points to his name, and even though it looked like he could challenge for the World No. 1 spot this year, that now seems to be relatively far from being a reality.
Daniil Medvedev, who wasn't able to defend his US Open title is behind this trio. The Russian player has 5,065 points, and he has only a 25-point lead over Alexander Zverev, who didn't even travel to New York.
The German player has suffered a brutal injury at the French Open this year, which is why he couldn't play. Another player who couldn't play at Flushing Meadows, Novak Djokovic, dropped to the World No. 7 position with 3,570 points.
Ahead of the Serbian is Stefanos Tsitsipas with 4,810 points. Behind the 21-time Grand Slam champion, Cameron Norrie will be eyeing his position. The British player is eighth and he trails Djokovic by only 20 points.
Andrey Rublev is ninth with 3,390 points, and Hubert Hurkacz closes the Top 10 as he did before the US Open. The Polish player has 3,355 points to his name.
