After his second-round match against Andy Murray, John Isner was only 5 aces away from breaking a world record which was held by Ivo Karlovic.
Although it's nice to hold a world record, John Isner admitted that he doesn't really focus on the stat but wants to advance to the next round at Wimbledon.
"It's not going to put me in the Hall of Fame or anything like that, because that's not me. But I will be the all-time leader. I'll keep playing, keep adding to my total. I could be up there for a long time."
"Ivo, I don't know if he's retired or what, but he hasn't played in a long time. I knew I would kind of eventually track him down. I will be probably thinking about it in my next match knowing it's either six or seven. Once I hit that number, whatever, not going to make an announcement or anything, but I'll know I have the record."
And he has the record now. Until now, Ivo Karlovic held the record for both men's and women's career aces in tennis. The Croatian blasted 13 728 aces throughout the course of 694 ATP Tour matches. John Isner surpassed this number in 737 matches during his third-round match at the 2022 Wimbledon, and he is anticipated to add many more.
