The entry list for the 2024 Swiss Indoors in Basel has been unveiled, and there are several top players on it.

Running from October 21 to 27, the tournament in Basel is one of the season's final two ATP 500 tournaments. The other is the Vienna Open, which takes place during the same week.

Local hero Roger Federer, whose agent recently hinted at an exhibition with Rafael Nadal, dominated the Swiss Indoors during his illustrious career. He won the tournament an incredible ten times, the last of which was in 2019.

Novak Djokovic, Juan Martin Del Potro, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, and Jim Courier are some of the other notable names to have secured the title in Basel since the tournament's inception in 1970.

Felix Auger-Aliassime has won the last two editions of the Swiss Indoors. He won a tight final in 2023 against Hubert Hurkacz 7-6, 7-6. The match coming down to fine margins was unsurprising because both men are excellent servers.

Auger-Aliassime is the No. 8 seed on the entry list for the 2024 Swiss Indoors. All five of the Canadian's ATP titles to date have come at indoor tournaments, showing how hard it will be to beat him.

Last year's runner-up, Hurkacz, will also return to the event. The Pole has had a frustrating few months because of injuries, but he is currently competing at the Japan Open in Tokyo. His defense of the Shanghai Masters title is next week.

Andrey Rublev is the No. 1 seed on the 2024 Swiss Indoors entry list. He hopes to respond strongly during the Asian swing after a brutal five-set defeat at the US Open to Grigor Dimitrov, which ended his hopes of finally getting past the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam.

Rublev is one of several players fighting to qualify for the year-end ATP Finals in Turin. Jannik Sinner, who won his first match since the US Open in Beijing, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev are the players who have booked their places.

The other five spots are still to be confirmed. Daniil Medvedev is close to qualifying in fourth, and it would be very surprising if he did not make it to Turin. It is hard to predict who the other four players will be.

Casper Ruud is sixth in the ATP Finals race, one place ahead of Rublev. Ruud, the No. 3 seed on the Swiss Indoors entry list, is not defending a large number of points from last year's Asian swing, which gives him a better chance of making it to Turin.

Stefanos Tsitsipas' chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals are slimmer. He is 12th in the race and needs good results during the Asian swing and European indoor hardcourt season. However, the Greek is not defending many points, giving him some hope.

The entertaining Ben Shelton has no chance of making it to the ATP Finals, but he is always fun to watch. The American is the No. 6 seed on the 2024 Swiss Indoors entry list, and organizers will be happy he has signed up.

Holger Rune, Arthur Fils, and Marin Cilic, who became the lowest-ranked ATP title winner ever, are some of the other players on the entry list for the 2024 Swiss Indoors.
