The Newport Open has traditionally been the final tournament of the ATP's grass-court swing, and that will not change in 2024.
The entry list for the tournament has already been released, with four of the Top 50 players signing up to compete in this ATP 250 event. Two-time former runner-up Alexander Bublik is expected to be the top seed as he is the highest-ranked player in the field.
Last year's champion, Adrian Mannarino, is also returning to Rhode Island to defend his crown. Jordan Thompson, Christopher Eubanks, and Marcos Giron can also be expected to challenge for the title as they will be among the high seeds.
Young American Alex Michelsen reached his first ATP final at this tournament 12 months ago he will be looking to go one round better this year. The 19-year-old is part of an exciting crop of young talent who will look to impress.
The others include Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who has already triumphed at this level this season (won in Lyon), Jakub Mensik, Arthur Cazaux and Shang Juncheng.
They will be among the ones to keep a close eye on. Big-serving Reilly Opelka is expected to receive a wild card. He will mark his return to ATP action after a long injury hiatus.
Details of prize money have been revealed. The organizers have committed a purse amounting to $661,585. A total of 32 players in the singles field will compete for a generous share of this package.
Prize money is distributed starting in the first round. Players who lose at this stage will pocket $7,095, but they won't receive any ranking points. Those who make it to the second round stage will receive $11,610, along with 25 points.
Because this is an ATP 250, players need only win two matches to reach the quarterfinal stage, where they will be compensated $19,995 and receive 50 points.
The semi-finalists will bank $34,510 and receive 100 points. The two men who contest the championship match in Newport will stand to gain the most. The vanquished finalist will receive $58,700 and 165 points.
The champion, meanwhile, will make six figures totaling $100,635. He'll also get a huge boost in their ATP ranking because they will receive 250 points. For the full overview of the 2024 Newport Open, be sure to check the table below.
