The final stop of the ATP's famed grass-court swing will be at the Newport Open in the seaside city of Newport, Rhode Island, in the United States.

The entry list for the 2024 edition has been released, and it promises to be an open field with a mix of grass-court specialists and young players looking for a breakout week.

First held in 1976, this tournament has seen some of the most unheralded former tennis pros crack important milestones. Vijay Amritraj became the inaugural champion and is one of two Indian men to win this event.

Players such as Bryan Shelton (Ben Shelton's father), Greg Rusedski, Fabrice Santoro, and Mardy Fish have also etched their names into the honor roll. But when it comes to dominating the Newport Open, no player can hold a candle to John Isner, who won it four times.

Last year, experience won over youth. Adrian Mannarino became the first Frenchman in a decade to win in Newport, beating first-time ATP finalist Alex Michelsen of the USA. Both these two men will feature in this year's event and be among the seeds.

Alexander Bublik has twice fallen at the final hurdle in Newport, most recently in 2022, when he lost to Maxime Cressy in a final-set tie-break. He'll be hoping the third time is a charm. The Kazakhstani is the only Top 20 player in the field.

The likes of Jordan Thompson and Christoper Eubanks are perennial grass-court threats and are part of the Top 50. One of the breakout youngsters of 2024 is France's Giovanni Mpetschi Perricard. The 20-year-old could be a dark horse at this tournament.

He's blessed with a massive serve that suits the surface, and he's no stranger to winning at this level (he clinched a maiden ATP title in Lyon). Other young players to watch in Newport include Jakub Mensik and Shang Juncheng, who have broken into the Top 100.

Marcos Giron, Brandon Nakashima, Mackenzie McDonald, and Aleksandar Kovacevic will be among those looking to continue the fine record of American men excelling in Newport.

The tournament will name three wild cards, one of which is expected to go to Reilly Opelka. The big-serving American intends to return to action on the ATP Tour for the first time in over a year in Rhode Island. The initial entry list for the 2024 Newport Open can be seen below.
