Running from April 1st to 7th, the 2024 Marrakech Open will welcome some of the best ATP stars to compete on the clay courts of North Africa.
The entry list was released just a few weeks ago, and there is a sense of anticipation and excitement building following the confirmation that 2010 champion Stan Wawrinka will be among the 28 men making the trip to Marrakech.
The three-time Grand Slam winner will not be seeded after dropping out of the Top 50 in recent months. But he is still capable of playing supreme tennis on his beloved clay.
Some of the other unseeded players in the field who have a strong affinity for the surface include defending champion Roberto Carballes Baena, Jaume Munar, and Thiago Seyboth Wild, who earned a career-best win over Daniil Medvedev at last year's French Open.
Matteo Berrettini is also making efforts to get more minutes by signing up to play with a protected ranking. Serbia's Laslo Djere spearheads the field, which also includes Sebastian Ofner, Alejandro Tabilo, and Daniel Evans among the top four seeds.
The total prize money for the 2024 Marrakech Open stands at €579,320, which is slightly lower than last year's purse but marginally better than in 2022. The finalists (champion and runner-up) will receive lower paychecks compared to last year.
The trimming of those two paychecks will help those who lose in the earlier rounds. First-round losers will take home €6,215 but will not receive any ranking points.
Reaching the second round equates to a five-figure pay of €10,165. These players will also receive 25 points. Quarterfinalists will make €17,510 and receive 50 points.
Those players who advance to the business end of the tournament will take home the largest chunk of prize money. Semifinalists earn €30,220 and 100 points.
The champion and runner-up will earn €88,125 and €51,400, respectively. The complete prize money breakdown for this year's Marrakech Open is tabulated below.
