The 2024 European Open in Antwerp will be played during the first week of the indoor hardcourt season, and the prize money details for the tournament have been released.

Two other tournaments, the Stockholm Open and the Almaty Open, also take place during that week. That gives players plenty of options to pick the most suitable tournament and location for them.

Unlike the Stockholm Open, a feature of the ATP calendar for many years, the European Open is a newer tournament. Richard Gasquet, who recently became the third-oldest Challenger Tour champion, won the first iteration in 2016.

Andy Murray, Jannik Sinner, who won his first match since the US Open at the ongoing China Open in Beijing, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are some of the other players who have secured the title in Antwerp.

Alexander Bublik defeated Arthur Fils in last year's final. Surprisingly, the Kazakhstani will not return to defend his European Open title, entering the Almaty Open entry list instead.

Fortunately, many other excellent players are on the entry list for this year's European Open. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Jiri Lehecka are some of the players who will compete in Belgium.

€690,135 is the total prize money pot to be distributed among all the players who qualify for the main draw of the 2024 European Open. The amounts per round are substantial, especially for the two finalists.

The 2024 European Open champion will receive €104,985 and 250 ranking points. That could be crucial for a player like Tsitsipas, who needs a good run in the Asian swing and the European indoor hardcourt season to have a chance of qualifying for the ATP Finals.

This year's European Open runner-up will pocket €61,235 and get 165 points to boost their ranking. That will make the losing finalist feel their efforts throughout the week were not in vain.

The two players who fall in the semifinals are set to receive 100 points and €36,000. Tsitsipas and Maximilian Marterer were the losing semifinalists at the 2023 European Open.

Although the rewards are not quite as lucrative for the beaten quarterfinalists, they will still get decent compensation for reaching the final eight in Antwerp. Those four players will obtain €20,860 and 50 ranking points.

The men who are knocked out in the round of 16 will walk away with €12,110 and 25 points. Tsitsipas, Auger-Aliassime, Sebastian Baez, and Jordan Thompson, the Top four seeds at the 2024 European Open, are guaranteed at least that amount because they receive a bye in the opening round.

No ranking points are awarded to players who lose in the round of 32. However, those 12 men will still have €7,400 added to their bank account just for qualifying for the main draw in the first place.

It is hard to know which of the three tournaments being held in the first week of the indoor hardcourt season will be the best viewing. Stars like Tsitsipas's presence means the 2024 European Open has a chance of claiming that title.
