The 2024
Eisenhower Cup in
Indian Wells will be played on March 5, 2024, and the
draw was released for the event.
The Eisenhower Cup is a popular exhibition ahead of the Indian Wells Open, which is played in a fast-paced Tie-Break Tens format. In the past, it was played in many different venues with many different draws, but in the past two seasons, it's been a mixed doubles exhibition in Indian Wells.
That won't change this year, and tournament organizers once again managed to attract a very strong and competitive field of ATP and
WTA players that is going to contest for the trophy.
All players have different reasons to enter. While some want to have a competitive practice ahead of the tournament, others want to play together before joining their forces at the Olympics, and some are just good friends, or a couple, wanting to spend some time together on the court.
The field for the event is really start-studded, as it features only eight teams. The first drawn team was
Sloane Stephens, who replaced Jessica Pegula, and
Tommy Paul, who will take on fellow compatriot
Frances Tiafoe, and recent Australian Open finalist,
Qinwen Zheng.
The winner of this quarterfinal will take on the winner of the match between
Maria Sakkari, who replaced Elena Rybakina, and
Andrey Rublev, who will play against
Emma Navarro and
Ben Shelton.
The best team from this part of the draw will take on the best team from the bottom part of the draw, in which, the
defending champions,
Aryna Sabalenka and
Taylor Fritz, will paly against the Danish duo of
Caroline Wozniacki and
Holger Rune.
The Danes are one of those that likely want to practice for the Olympics, and the same applies to
Iga Swiatek and
Hubert Hurkacz, who will play against tennis couple
Paula Badosa and
Stefanos Tsitsipas in their quarterfinal match.
