The 2023 Croatia Open in Umag promises to be a spectacular event once again with entry list only supporting the claim.

From July 24th to 30th, players will meet at an ATP 250 tournament at ITC Stella Maris in Umag, Croatia. In the past, the event saw the likes of Carlos Moya, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Stan Wawrinka, and many more lift the trophy at the tournament.

But the previous two years were dominated by two members of the newly forming Big Three on the ATP Tour. Carlos Alcaraz won the title in 2021, and Jannik Sinner defeated him in the final in 2022 to win the trophy. Yet, neither of them will compete in 2023.

However, another member of this forming dominance on the ATP Tour, Holger Rune, should have headlined the event. The young Dane recently said that it's too early to talk about a new Big Three, and the three-peat of the NextGen's Big Three won't be completed after he was forced to withdraw from the tournament.

But the field at the event will be still strong as three Grand Slam champions will come to Umag. Three-time major winner Stan Wawrinka is one of them, the 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem is another, and home crowd favourite Marin Cilic should join the mix.

Moreover, many youngsters will want to prove their qualities in Umag. The list is led by Jiri Lehecka, but also the likes of Lorenzo Sonego and Matteo Arnaldi will want to do well. Former Roland Garros semifinalist, Marco Cecchinato, will also want to prove that he didn't forget how to play on clay.
