Although the 2022 Barcelona Open will be held without a 12-time champion, Rafael Nadal, there will still be a lot to watch for fans in Spain as the entry list is packed.
Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Diego Schwartzman, and Cameron Norrie should all take part in the 2022 Barcelona Open, which offers an interesting 2,661,825€ in prize money and 500 points for the champion as ATP 500 event.
With 500 points, the champion in Barcelona will also take home 467,150€. Last year, it was Rafael Nadal who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, so the Greek has many points to defeat, while the Spaniard won't defend his title. Specifically, the finalist gets 300 points in addition to 249,140€.
Last year's semifinalist, Jannik Sinner, is one of the players who withdrew from the event. Other major withdrawals include Hubert Hurkacz, Denis Shapovalov, and Botic van de Zandschlup, so these players won't fight for the top prize but won't also receive the 10,380€ that are added to the accounts of the players that lose already in the first round.
Those that lose in the first round don't receive any points, but for making it to the second round of the Barcelona Open, players are rewarded with 20 ATP points and 19,465€. Those that make it to the third round get 45 points and 35,555€, while all four losing quarterfinalists will get 90 points and 67,480€
Semifinalists will be rewarded with 180 points and 129,245€ and if you want to see the full prize money and points breakdown for the 2022 Barcelona Open, be sure to check it out below.
