The 2022 Astana Open is played from October 3rd until 9th and it features probably the strongest draw of an ATP 500 event this year.

The Astana Open was previously won by John Millman and Soonwoo Kwon when it was an ATP 250 competition. Due to a shift in circumstances, the best tennis players will attend the event this year. As the 2022 Astana Open is an ATP 500 event, many Grand Slam champions will travel to Kazakhstan. As a result, participants are also awarded more in prize money and points.

2022 US Open champion and the youngest world number one in the history of men's tennis, Carlos Alcaraz is the top-seeded player in Astana. The young Spaniard will begin his tournament against another youngster, Holger Rune, who he defeated at last year's Next Gen ATP Finals.

Winner of this match will face a very interesting second-round opponent as three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka received a wild-card and he will play against Adrian Mannarino in the first round.

Fans in Kazakhstan can see also an all-Russian second-round match as the fifth-seeded Andrey Rublev and his compatriot Aslan Karatsev will both begin against a qualifier and in case of a victory, they will meet in the 2nd round.

The third-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas will begin his journey against Mikhail Kukushkin and in the second round, he can meet yet another Grand Slam champion as Marin Cilic will start against a qualifier.

The 21-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic is the fourth-seeded after he received a wild-card and the Serbian will start his tournament against Cristian Garin, who he beat in 2020 and also in 2021.

Former world number 1 and 2021 US Open champion, Daniil Medvedev is no. 2 at the 2022 Astana Open and the Russian will begin his tournament against Albert Ramos-Vinolas from Spain.
