Two legends of tennis, Roger Federer and Serena Williams, will disappear from the rankings after Wimbledon even if they play the event.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion and the 23-time Grand Slam champion are among the most successful tennis players ever, especially when it comes to the grass courts of the All England Club.

The Swiss Maestro has won eight Wimbledon titles in his storied career, while the American legend won the tournament seven times. However, after this year's Wimbledon, they will both disappear from the rankings.

In their careers, both have reached the top of the rankings. While Federer spent 310 weeks as the top-ranked player in the ATP Rankings, Williams managed to hold the top spot for nine more weeks, a total of 319 weeks as the world no. 1 in the WTA Rankings.

But with injuries and various other factors stopping them late in their careers, in a few weeks, they won't be part of the rankings at all, something they have never experienced in their careers before.

Both of these players have essentially missed the entire year so far due to various injuries, and neither has collected any points. The only points for both players are those from the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, and those will be removed once that event finishes.

The 2022 edition of the tournament won't be handing out any points due to the ATP & WTA electing to strip the points away from the event, both will be left with zero. The decision comes after Wimbledon banned Russian and Belarusian players from competing at the tournament, and some players will have to pay the price for it.

At the moment, neither Williams nor Federer are expected to compete at the tournament, but even if they did, they wouldn't be able to increase or keep their points total, due to the event not distributing any ranking points in 2022.
