Coco Gauff is excited about being back home in Florida with a chance to play at the Miami Open once more.
She is a teenager but she's not doing your typical teenage things at this time of the year in Miami. The city is buzzing with students and other young people who are there to enjoy Spring Break but her's will be spent in a hotel room though she has plans of keeping herself entertained.
But and I feel like now. Every spring break, so everybody's, you know, partying and I can't do that, do that in the tournament. And I'm underage still, so yeah, I think I'm just gonna be chilling in a hotel room. I've told my brother to bring the Xbox from home, so I'm probably gonna be playing some Fortnite or something.
Gauff is happy about being back home in Florida but her overall mood isn't that great because she's a bit disappointed with her performances lately. She knows that she can do much better.
I'm just really happy to be here. And hopefully I can have a good run here. I obviously have a lot of improvement that I can do, so I don't know. I would say I'm not too happy, but I'm hoping that I can improve on that this week and on to the clay season as well.
Miami offers a unique chance for Gauff and that is to focus on tennis all the time because she doesn't have much to do here. She's been here so many times that there is noting interesting for her to do other than focus on her tennis.
Yeah, it's definitely a more conscious effort. It's not something that naturally comes to me. I like, I can be a little bit in my room, hold up, so it's something I'm trying to improve on. But yeah, I don't, I won't be doing too much here honestly because I've seen this city so many times.
