Danielle Collins has been on fire in recent weeks, and she's going to try to keep that going against the Charleston Open defending champion Ons Jabeur.
Jabeur is a fascinating tennis player capable of playing some amazing tennis. It hasn't been that good this year, but she's capable of simply exploding and having an amazing week. She had one in Charleston last year and could do so this year as well because this is a place where she simply loves playing.
Everything about this event is her style, but it won't be easy against Collins, who has now won eight consecutive matches, including one at the event in Charleston.
Head-to-head:
Collins and Jabeur have played a handful of times so far, with Collins leading the H2H 2-1. It's been a while since they played, though, as their most recent match happened in 2022. Collins is a tricky matchup for Jabeur because she can actually exert a lot of pressure on her and can do it pretty consistently.
The American has been amazing on serve and returning really well in recent weeks. That's basically what she needs to do against Jabeur as well and the match will certainly give Collins chances to do so.
Her form in recent weeks makes you believe that she won't drop off suddenly, so there isn't much Jabeur can do. She has lost four matches in a row and is likely heading to a fifth.
Danielle Collins | Ons Jabeur | |
2 | H2H | 1 |
22 | Rank | 6 |
30 | Age | 29 |
20-7 | 2024 W/L | 2-5 |
246-146 | Career W/L | 431-237 |
Prediction:
Collins should be the better player in this match because she's played better in recent weeks, and I just don't see what Jabeur could do to change that. She can win, of course, but she's not impressed lately, and I don't see it changing overnight.
Prediction: Danielle Collins to win in two sets.
