Sinner Defended By Andy Murray's Ex-Coach After Being Called 'Not Interesting'

Tennis coach and analyst Mark Petchey disagrees with those who do not find Jannik Sinner interesting to watch.

Sinner has enjoyed an incredible start to the season. He started by winning his first Australian Open title, before following that up with further triumphs at the Rotterdam Open and recently in Miami.

Despite this, the Italian is not getting complacent. In fact, Sinner is expecting struggles during the clay court season, after the outstanding success he has enjoyed on hard courts so far in 2024.

The new world No. 2 also knows that his rivals will look to stop him in his tracks. Sinner spoke recently about Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz looking to challenge him, which is a very exciting prospect for tennis fans.

However, some fans feel the Australian Open champion is not interesting enough. One account on X expressed this opinion, which did not go down well with Andy Murray's former coach Petchey.

In a tweet that can be viewed below, Petchey compared Sinner favourably to Roger Federer, saying that the Swiss legend used to be lauded for the thrashings he handed out in his prime and that Sinner should also be respected for this.

The Briton then went further in his tweet by praising the amazing level that Sinner has produced lately. Rather than finding this boring, the analyst is mesmerized when he watches the Italian in full flow during his matches.

Petchey ended his tweet by predicting that Sinner will get even better in the future. He mentioned what an all-court player the 22-year-old is, which gives him a better chance of winning multiple big titles on all surfaces during his career.

Although there will always be some fans with a contrasting view, those thinking Sinner is boring certainly seems to be a minority opinion. He has undoubtedly wowed millions of fans already in his short career with his powerful brand of tennis.
