Coco Gauff Hints At Cutting Down Doubles Amid Busy US Open Schedule

Coco Gauff is multitasking at this year's US Open, playing in all three competitions - singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

As the first week of this year's tournament draws to a close, Gauff has already racked up five matches across three courts. She has safely advanced to the fourth round in singles setting up a showdown against former No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki on Sunday.

Her doubles campaign is alive too and is scheduled to team up with her compatriot Jessica Pegula for a second-round match on Saturday afternoon. Gauff's mixed doubles partnership with Jack Sock only lasted a match in what was Sock's final match as a tennis pro before stepping away.

The past couple of days have certainly been busier for Gauff and her fitness coach having to juggle so many matches. Gauff admits being 19 is enough justification to play on as she's got too much gas in the tank, and perhaps to the surprise of many, it has actually helped her nerves a lot.

Balancing both sides of the spectrum isn't effortless, but Gauff stated that doubles matches are less taxing and less intense than singles matches. And sometimes she's there for the fun part. But whether she'll be in doubles for the long haul is highly questionable, and Gauff revealed she might have to stop and focus on her singles career at some point.

"To be honest, the doubles compared to the singles doesn't take that much energy, especially in mixed when you have the guy really does most of the work. I was just serving and Jack was doing his thing. We didn't pull it out, but it was still fun."

"I just enjoy it. I don't feel like it's as taxing as right now as it may seem. Is it something I'm going to do every time in my career? Probably not. I'm 19. I have a lot of fuel in my tank. I'm really enjoying it. Honestly, it's been helping my nerve levels a lot."
