Naomi Osaka's sun care brand makes it to Walmart

Naomi Osaka's 2021 sun and skincare brand KINLÒ will be available at Walmart this year as part of an exclusive partnership.

Osaka announced that the United States retail giant Walmart will stock her KINLÒ brand. The tennis player's goods will be sold online and in 2,500 locations. The brand, which began its direct-to-consumer retail debut last September, grew to become one of the US's favorite cosmetic launches of 2021.

The Japanese tennis player explained that she wanted the KINLÒ product to offer a high-quality suncare product to a wider audience. However, the four-time Grand Slam champion also explained that the brand is dedicated to raising awareness about effective sun and skincare.

"I started KINLÒ to educate others about proper sun protection, no matter what they look like or where they live."

Osaka is currently playing at the 2022 Madrid Open, where she started with a victory in round one. The former WTA world number one missed most of April after making the 2022 Maimi Open final before returning in time for the clay-court season.

While Osaka felt positive about her off-court venture into the beauty and skincare market, Walmart also said they were delighted to partner with the KINLÒ brand. When reflecting on the new business deal, Walmart's U.S. merchandise director of beauty, Angel Beasley, explained how the partnership can support a diverse range of customers.

"Naomi is truly a pioneer in her work to build a future of skincare that's formulated for melanated skin, while shining a light on the unmet needs affecting people of color."
