Coco Gauff is already amassing a committed fanbase despite being just 18 years old, and she spoke about how much support from fans means to her
Gauff has been known worldwide since she reached the fourth round of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships as a 15-year-old. In the opening round, she defeated Venus Williams, one of her childhood idols.
One reason for Gauff's growing fanbase is comparisons to Venus and Serena Williams. They are two American women of color who broke through at a young age and have had legendary careers. Gauff could do the same.
The teenager is also superb to watch. Gauff's combination of athleticism and shot-making makes her one of the most entertaining players on the WTA Tour to watch when her game is flowing
In a recent interview with Vogue, Gauff said she loves meeting people who enjoy watching her play. That feeling makes the 18-year-old happy and provides motivation to produce great performances during tournaments.
"It means a lot meeting new people and makes you feel like what you're doing matters. And I'm glad that so many people are excited just to see me play and just so excited to meet me. It makes me feel really happy."
Gauff also spoke about how often she works out to stay in the best shape possible. The American revealed she usually does so six days a week, meaning this year's French Open runner-up usually does not want to do anything on days off.
"I don't workout everyday but I would say almost everyday. Pretty much six days out the week. Because I workout so much that when I do have a day off I don't want to do anything. Maybe like a yoga or something, but I don't like yoga but I just do it cause it's good for you."
