Kenin, Stephens & Badosa Among Players Set To Fight In Abu Dhabi Open Qualifying

The upcoming Abu Dhabi Open is going to be a really strong event because the qualifying entry list is pretty strong, with names like Sofia Kenin, Sloane Stephens, and Paula Badosa.

A strong qualifying entry list always suggests that the main draw entry list must be even stronger. In addition, looking at some of the big names who will play in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open qualifiers, we can see they have all suffered a ranking drop.

First among them is Sofia Kenin, who lately has trended upwards but is still far away from her best ranking. The Abu Dhabi entry list is as strong as it means that a player ranked inside the Top 50 (Kenin; 47) will have to play the qualifiers.

Sloane Stephens is definitely a player who has struggled to maintain a strong ranking due to her inconsistent play. She's better ranked than Kenin (no. 39) but with consistent play, she should find herself in the Top 20. However, she can't perform consistently right now, and that's why she'll have to play the qualifiers as well.

Paula Badosa is a player who struggled with her ranking mainly due to inactivity. She hasn't played much last year due to her injuries but is back this year and will certainly see her ranking improve weekly.

Being 83rd right now simply means that she, too, will have to play the qualifiers for the WTA 500 event. There are some other notable names like Marie Bouzkova who will play the qualifiers in hopes of joining the really strong entry list.

The event is coming up shortly as it runs from February 5th till the 11th, with players like Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari, Barbora Krejcikova, Jelena Ostapenko, and others taking part in what should start an exciting month of tennis.
