Garbine Muguruza had one of the worst seasons in her career and she's well aware of that as she stated in a recent interview.

Currently, the 28-years-old Spanish player competes at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo where she succeeded in her opening match. Despite the victory, she still holds a negative record this year as she triumphed only 12 times in 27 matches and in Japan, she said:

“It’s been a tough season, a little bit of a roller coaster,” Garbine Muguruza admitted. “I don’t know if I’m going to be able, with these last tournaments, to have a different feeling. That’s my goal. I think that it’s all about confidence and how well you’re playing or how many matches you’ve been playing."

“Definitely this year I feel that I haven’t played that many matches so obviously when the important moments come, you really feel that confidence that is not quite there yet. I think also trying and trying and trying, at some point I will get rewarded.”
