World number 1, Iga Swiatek, is on a seemingly unstoppable 21-match winning streak that Emma Raducanu will attempt to stop at the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
Iga Swiatek lost only three games in the last seven sets she played, and so even though Emma Raducanu is the eight-seeded at the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, facing current world number 1 won't be an easy task as the two should meet on Friday afternoon.
Despite demolishing her opponents, the Polish youngster says she's not focused on scores when after her 2nd round win in Stuttgart, she said:
"I'm pretty happy that I'm consistent and I'm not letting my opponents play their game. But honestly, it's not like I'm proud of the score, I'm more proud of the whole win and the performance. If I would have thoughts [about not wanting to lose games] it would mean I'm really not focused."
According to the Polish player, she plays the best tennis when she doesn't even know the score, and that's why she tries not to look on it, and rather assess the match only based on her performance.
"The best kind of tennis for me is when I don't even know what the score is. Even when I have a thought like that, I'm like, Oh my god Iga, come back to what's important. Performance is the thing I want to focus on so I don't even care about the scores."
Despite being dominant and not losing more than one game in any of the sets in her previous three matches, the world no. 1 calls it a "weird position," especially because she's just getting used to being the leader on the WTA Tour.
“Right now I'm in a pretty weird position because I've never played three matches with scores like that, so I feel like my mind has to be still ready for everything. I've never had something like that in tennis at that level. This is a new experience again, something I have to deal with. It's not like you can stop working right now. I feel like it's even more work to do.”
