Olympic champion Belinda Bencic replaced Emma Raducanu as Dmitriy Tursunov's protege recently and she revealed it's been a concentrated effort.

Due to the fact that several of the players he worked with improved, Tursunov established a very strong reputation for himself as a coach. His best work was done with Anett Kontaveit, who he helped climb to the number two spot in the world with an outstanding year-end performance.

Their relationship broke down earlier this year and then he briefly coached Raducanu before leaving the Brit for Bencic. She talked about the hiring after her round one win explaining: "I tried everything to get him. He's a very good and tough coach. I think that was a good decision."

"I think this is the part where I can improve the most, change this [perfectionist] mindset. I'm trying, but sometimes it's the perfectionism still in me. I have to change that system in my head. I have to do what I have to do, even if it's not pretty. It's a process. I'm not there yet, but it's definitely something that I'm working on."

Bencic's first match under Tursunov was a rather solid win over Leylah Fernandez in three sets.
