Coco Gauff's coaching relationship with Diego Moyano ended after one year due to his personal reasons.
The dynamic duo's one-year partnership saw significant accomplishments, and their amicable split comes as a surprise to many. Most recently, Gauff triumphed at the 2023 Miami Open in a doubles tournament alongside doubles partner Jessica Pegula.
Over the past year, Gauff has been on an upward trajectory, notching impressive victories and solidifying her position among the world's top tennis players. In 2022, she reached the world no. 1 rank in doubles and finished the season in the Top 10 in singles, and this year, she'll want to go even higher.
Last year, Moyano joined her already robust team, which included her father Corey Gauff, and coach Jean-Christophe Faurel. Together, they transformed the teenage sensation into a more mature player on the court.
Moyano recently released a heartfelt statement expressing gratitude for his time with Gauff and her family. He praised the young athlete's character both on and off the court, acknowledging her unique talent and unwavering work ethic.
"Thank you! After a fantastic year where we achieve many great things I have to stop working with Coco due to my personal reasons. Thank you so much for this amazing year plenty of memories."
Moyano also extended his gratitude to the Gauff family for their trust and support throughout their collaboration.
"It is really a pleasure to work with you Coco, a real champion on and off the court. Want to thank Gauff’s family for the trust and support along this year. You guys have been amazing. And want to thanks as well the team that worked hard with me to achieve the goals."
While Moyano's departure leaves a gap in Gauff's coaching team, it is evident that she possesses the resilience and dedication to continue her meteoric rise in the tennis world. The amicable nature of their separation suggests that the two will remain supportive of each other in their respective endeavors.
