Coco Gauff qualified for the 2022 WTA Finals becoming the youngest player to do so since Maria Sharapova in 2005 and it was more than she hoped for at the start of the season.

After an outstanding season in which she made it to her first Grand Slam final at the Roland Garros and rose to the seventh spot in the WTA Rankings, Coco Gauff has pulled off the extraordinary feat of qualifying for the year-ending tournament in both singles and doubles.

“It means a lot," said Gauff. "Honestly I didn’t think about it until I realised how close I was and I think I went maybe a little bit nervous in the end but I’m super excited to be playing in the WTA Finals, especially in the USA, and qualifying in singles and doubles is definitely a good achievement."

Her goals at the start of the year did not include the WTA Finals as she confirmed it during her interview: “I didn’t expect that when I set my goals at the beginning of the year. I’m really happy and I hope I can do a good performance there.”

It will be a very busy week for Gauff who will be on double duty in Forth Worth. Besides playing in the singles she'll also partner Jessica Pegula in the doubles event. Her goal is to walk away with at least one trophy.
