Following his sensational US Open run, Frances Tiafoe enrolled for second ATP event after losing in the final of the Japan Open to Taylor Fritz.

This time, the American moved to Sweden where he competes at the 2022 Stockholm Open. Thanks to being the third-seeded, Frances Tiafoe had a BYE in the first round and started his campaign against home player Elias Ymer in the second round.

Ymer brothers are currently the most successful Swedish players and Elias' brother Mikael defeated the eighth-seeded Tommy Paul only a few minutes before the start of another match between an American and Swede.

Ymer was surfing on the big wave of support from the home crowd that was hyped from his brother's victory. He got an early break in the first set and after just 32 minutes won it 6-3.

In the second set, the home crowd favourite didn't break his opponent just once, but twice and soon he found himself 4-0 up and only two points away from breaking the American for the third time.

However, Tiafoe didn't travel to Stockholm to lose in two sets and showed his incredible fighting spirit. He got both breaks back and eventually forced a tie-break in the second set.

He built a 6-0 lead that was cut massively by the Swede to 6-4, but eventually, the 2022 US Open semifinalist prevailed and won the tie-break 7-4.

In the third set, Ymer had two break points, but he couldn't use any of the opportunities he got and so after more than 2 hours and 30 minutes, the match had to be decided in another tie-break.

This time, Tiafoe controlled it from start to finish to win the match 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(2) in what could be considered as one of the best come backs in the 2022 season.
