The 2024 Rouen Open is a clay-court tournament that will be held in northern France from April 15th to 21st.
Although this will be its first edition as a WTA 250, the Rouen Open has previously been staged at the 125K level in each of the past two seasons. Belgium's Maryna Zanevska won the inaugural tournament in 2022, and then Swiss one-hander Viktorija Golubic joined the winner's circle in 2023.
With Zanevska now retired and Golubic out of action (she hasn't played since January), we are bound to crown a new champion in Rouen. This tournament is held the same week as the star-studded WTA 500 in Stuttgart.
However, that hasn't diminished the relevance of this tournament. There are plenty of interesting names in the field, including a Grand Slam champion, a former World No. 1, and a French Open runner-up. Twenty-two players who have signed up to play in this event have been revealed.
Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is the top seed. The 2021 Roland Garros finalist has risen to her highest ranking (22nd) since returning from a knee injury. She is joined by home player Caroline Garcia, Anhelina Kalinina, and China's newest star, Yue Yuan, among the top four seeds.
Mirra Andreeva's last trip to France was quite eventful as she had to play an ATP pro in an exhibition match. She will be relishing her final days as a 16-year-old. Marie Bouzkova, Sloane Stephens, and Clara Burel round off the seeds.
Karolina Pliskova will be among a long list of debutants. The Italian trio of Lucia Bronzetti, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and Martina Trevisan are in the mix. Two talented players who are moving up the rankings will look to impress: Diane Parry and Peyton Stearns.
