The 2024 China Open will be an exciting tournament as the WTA 1000 event in Beijing will host a 96-player draw.

For many years, most of the WTA 1000 tournaments featured a 64-player draws. However, that has been changing in recent years, and that means that the 2024 China Open will feature a 96-player draw, meaning that the entry list is very long.

Last year, one woman dominated the China Open. Iga Swiatek entered the tournament as the second seed, which she hasn't done many times in recent years, but last year, the tournament in Beijing was played during the period when she was the second-ranked player on the WTA Tour, which meant Aryna Sabalenka was the top seed.

Still, the Polish player was the best in China, winning the 2023 China Open, beating Liudmila Samsonova in the final. The Russian previously stunned Elena Rybakina in the semi-final, after the Kazakhstani player bested Sabalenka in the quarter-final.

In 2024, all of them will compete at the tournament in Beijing, hoping to go further, while Swiatek will want to defend her title at the expanded tournament. But as always, competition will be very fierce.

One of the players that will certainly be among the favorites is Coco Gauff, who has been among one of the best players on the WTA Tour, and she will want to prove that again.

She won't be the only one that could challenge for the trophy. Jasmine Paolini reached back-to-back finals at the French Open and Wimbledon, and she will be on a mission to prove that those runs were not a fluke.

There will be one player that will get more support than anyone else in Beijing, and it will be home favorite Qinwen Zheng, who will try to delight the crowd at the China Open with a title run.

The list of players that could also go far includes the likes of Jessica Pegula, Barbora Krejcikova, Maria Sakkari, and Jelena Ostapneko, who all proved their qualities multiple times before.

Danielle Collins will retire from professional tennis after the 2024 season, and she will use this tournament to say goodbye to Beijing, hoping to do so with a trophy in her hands.

Former Grand Slam champions Emma Raducanu and Caroline Wozniacki now have a high ranking to qualify for WTA 1000 events, meaning they will also be among the players competing. The full entry list for the 2024 China Open in Beijing can be seen below.
