The 2023 Nottingham Open will be played from June 12th to 18th as one of the first two WTA 250 grass-court events.
The tournament, which is played at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in Nottingham, United Kingdom, went through multiple changes of the official name in the past, being established already back in 1887.
Most recently, the tournament sponsor changed in 2022, naming the event the Rothesay Open Nottingham, the name which is used also for the 2023 edition of the tournament. Also thanks to the new sponsor, the tournament organizers were able to bring an interesting field of players to Nottingham, and also offer competitive prize money.
In terms of the interesting players, the entry list includes names such as Ajla Tomljanovic, Alycia Parks, Camila Giorgi, Donna Vekic, and Magda Linette, while tournament organizers managed to put together $259,303, which will be distributed to players as prize money.
Out of that, the champion will see their net worth increase by $34,228 and their points total in the WTA Rankings by 280 points awarded to the eventual winner of the Nottingham Open, with the defending champion being Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil.
Since the Brazilian won't compete in 2023, there will be a new champion and also a fresh hope for players to get more than just 1 point and $2,804 for a first-round exit. Everyone will be targeting at least 30 points and $3,920 for the second-round appearance, with 60 points and $6,418 for the quarterfinals also providing some motivation.
The runner-up will get 180 points and $20,226 and to see the full overview of the prize money and points distribution for the 2023 Nottingham Open, be sure to check it out below.
