The 2023 Cleveland Open runs from August 20th to 26th, and the WTA 250 event offers $271,363 in prize money.

The Cleveland Open, also called the Tennis in the Land, is the last stop before players head to Flushing Meadows in New York for the last major of the year. It's a WTA 250 tournament, so naturally, it offers $271,363 in prize money and 280 points for the champion, like all WTA 250 events on the calendar.

Because of its place in the calendar, it's one of the destinations for the players ahead of the last Grand Slam of the season. There will be multiple star names on the tournament's entry list, and even though the brightest star, Venus Williams, withdrew from the tournament, the likes of Mirra Andreeva and Caroline Garcia are still set to compete.

The champion at the Cleveland Open will get $34,228 and 280 WTA ranking points, while the finalist will go home with 180 points and $20,226, and also probably good form ahead of the US Open.

On the other hand, those that will exit the tournament in the first round probably won't be happy with their one point and $2,930, but things get nicer with one won match, as 30 ranking points and $4,220 await the first-round victors.

For making the quarter-finals in Cleveland, players will receive 60 points and $6,417, while the two unsuccessful semi-finalists will each get 110 points and also $11,275 in prize money.

Of course, all will be eyeing the top prize, but as a so-called "warm-up" tournament before the US Open, playing themselves into form will be the main objective for the majority of the players, as the first-round exit from the tournament at Flushing Meadows offers more in prize money than a trophy run in Cleveland.
