Mirra Andreeva recorded another win at the 2024 Madrid Open, beating fellow teenager, Linda Noskova, in three sets.

Last year, the Russian player entered the tournament as a 15-year-old and stunned Beatriz Haddad Maia early on. She turned 16 during the event and reached the round of 16.

Now, one year later, Andreeva is back at the WTA 1000 tournament in the Spanish capital, and she started with a hard-fought win over Taylor Townsend.

In the second round, she took on a seeded player, who was the 29th-seeded Noskova, who herself produced some sensational upsets this year, such as beating Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open.

The Czech player has undeniable qualities, and she showed it in the opening set of this match. Despite losing a one-break advantage that she create in the third game immediately after that, Noskova dded one more break to lead 4-3, and confirm it to jump into a two-game lead for the first time, 5-3.

Despite her opponent's attempt to still fight for the first set, Noskova didn't allow any drama, holding her serve to win the first set 6-4 and start the match on the right foot.

Noskova started the second set well too, but after breaking her opponent's serve, Andreeva showed why she's the super talent that everyone has been talking about in the past 12 months.

The 16-year-old won five consecutive games, and despite losing one of two breaks that she had, she was still able to easily win the second set 6-3, and send the match into the decider.

In the third set, Andreeva started with an early break again, but she lost the advantage and after six games, the score was tied again at 3-3.

That didn't matter much, as Andreeva produced a late push to win three games in a row and win the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the third round of the 2024 Madrid Open, awaiting the winner of the match between the seventh-seeded Marketa Vondrousova and Shelby Rogers.
