The Portoroz Open, also known as the Slovenia Open, or Zavarovalnica Sava Portoroz for sponsorship reasons, was a tennis tournament, which was held only seven times since being founded in 2005.

The Tennis Club Portoroz in Portoroz, Slovenia, hosts the tournament, which started as a WTA Tier IV tournament between 2005 and 2008, when the likes of Klara Koukalova, Tamira Paszek, Tatiana Golovin, and Sara Errani lifted the title.

After that, the tournament was promoted to the WTA International level in 2009 and 2010. In those years, Russian players Dinara Safina and Anna Chakvetadze won the tournament.

It then wasn't part of the tennis calendar for a full decade between 2011 and 2020, before it returned again in 2021 as a result of the multiple changes in the WTA calendar because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the first edition since 2010, Jasmine Paolini beat Alison Riske in the 2021 final, but the Portoroz Open would attract a much more star-studded field of players in 2022, in what would be the last time the tournament was held.

The 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, and the 2022 Wimbledon winner, Elena Rybakina, were among the players competing. Still, the 2022 Portoroz Open was won by Katerina Siniakova, who bested the Kazakhstani player in a brutal final, which lasted 3 hours and 6 minutes.

After the 2022 season, the Portoroz Open disappeared from the WTA calendar, and it's not expected to return again, despite the tremendous success that the last event had.
