At the 2022 US Open, Emma Raducanu was defending her maiden Grand Slam title from last year but after losing in the first round, she had to choose alternative path.

Before major drop in the WTA Rankings that the 2021 US Open champion will experience after this year's tournament, she signed up for some tournaments after the fourth Grand Slam of the year to make sure she has a chance to earn some WTA points and boost her chances of playing big tournaments next year.

Emma Raducanu will drop out of Top 80 of the WTA Rankings and she can find herself as low as 86th place. That would make it very difficult for the Brit to sign up for the main draw of events like the 2022 Portoroz Open, a WTA 250 tournament.

The lowest-ranked player is world no. 83, Katerina Siniakova and so former world number 11, Raducanu would need to enter the tournament through a qualifying draw.

However, thanks to being a Grand Slam champion, she received a wild-card for the event and so she gets a chance to collect points to get back to the top of the WTA Rankings.
