Jannik Sinner lost a relatively significant part of his lead as the World No. 1 on the ATP Tour. On the other hand, 18-year-old Joao Fonseca made a massive move up the rankings.

Sinner won't be allowed to compete in the following three months. The 23-year-old Italian player accepted a three-month suspension, which means that he won't be able to add any points to his total in the following months.

On top of that, the three-time Grand Slam champion will lose points that he earned during this period last year. For example, he won't be able to defend the 1,000 points that he earned for winning the Miami Open or 400 points for reaching the Monte-Carlo Masters semi-finals.

But he lost some points already before his suspension. Sinner withdrew from the Rotterdam Open, choosing not to defend his title. He made that decision because the tournament was moved to an earlier week.

That's also the reason why he lost those points one week after the conclusion of the Rotterdam Open. Sinner lost 500 points for his win in the Netherlands. As a result, his total changed from 11,830 points to 11,330 points.

That allowed second Alexander Zverev to catch up. The German player has 8,135 points, which means he reduced the deficit to the Italian player to 3,195 points. Third Carlos Alcaraz caught up to Sinner as well, even though he lost some points, too.

The Spaniard reached the semi-finals at the Argentina Open last year. Since he didn't participate this year, Alcaraz lost 100 points. That brought his total to 7,410 points. But in Alcaraz's absence, another player had a chance to shine in Buenos Aires.

Joao Fonseca was the star of the week. The 18-year-old Brazilian player won his maiden ATP title, becoming one of the few players to win a title as an 18-year-old. Thanks to his triumph at the ATP 250 event, he also recorded a big move in the ATP Rankings.

Fonseca reached his new career high. He's now ranked 68th in the world with 850 points after moving up by 31 positions. That's a massive move for the teenager, who will now be able to enter all the main draws for Grand Slams and ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

Another player who made a significant move was Hamad Medjedovic. The 21-year-old Serbian played in the final in Marseille. Thanks to that result, he moved up by 23 spots to the World No. 73 position. He has 782 points.

In the Top 10, there were only two moves. Daniil Medvedev moved up by two spots to the World No. 6 position, while Alex de Minaur moved down by two positions to the World No. 8 spot. Novak Djokovic, in between them, remained seventh.
