Novak Djokovic will not compete at the 2025 Paris Masters, withdrawing from the ATP Masters 1000 event a week ahead.
Djokovic won't challenge for his record-extending eighth title at the Paris Masters. There isn't anyone more successful than the legendary Serbian in the history of this event, but the 38-year-old won't add his 18th participation.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion reached the final every time in his last five appearances, winning the title in three of those finals. However, Djokovic withdrew from the event last year, and he will miss it this year as well.
Djokovic last played at the Six Kings Slam, where he lost his semi-final match to Jannik Sinner, and then retired after the first set of his third-round match against Taylor Fritz. After retiring even at an exhibition, it didn't appear realistic to expect Djokovic in ATP events, especially considering his recent injury struggles.
Unfortunately for the fans of the former world No. 1 player, those fears became a reality. Djokovic won't play in the first edition of the Paris Masters, which will be held at the La Défense Arena, which is the new venue for this event.

Novak Djokovic secured ATP Finals qualification, but his participation remains doubtful

Only a few days ago, Djokovic secured his 18th ATP Finals qualification. If he chooses to compete, it will be "only" his 17th participation, as the Serbian player didn't compete at the event last year despite qualifying.
This year, Djokovic will be deciding again whether he should compete in Turin. If he does play the ATP Finals, the Serbian player could challenge for his eighth title at the year-end championships.

What's next for Novak Djokovic after the Paris Masters withdrawal?

Djokovic briefly spoke about his plans at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He stated that he will do his best to prepare for the last two events of the season, but at the time, it wasn't clear which tournaments he meant.
After his withdrawal from the Paris Masters, it now seems almost certain that Djokovic intends to play at the Athens Open, an ATP 250 tournament in his new residence, and also an event organized by his brother, Djordje.
The other event that Djokovic could have hinted at competing in can't be anything else than the ATP Finals. That means that if everything goes well, fans of the Serbian can look forward to the exciting last few weeks.
However, it's also very possible that Djokovic might not feel 100% ready to compete, like in Riyadh or when it came to his Paris Masters participation. In that case, the 24-time major winner's season would be over, with his next event likely being the Australian Open.
