Nick Kyrgios recently returned to the tennis courts, and he's starting to add events to his calendar, even the one that almost ended his career.

The 29-year-old Australian made a return to tennis at the 2025 Brisbane International. His first match was a win in doubles alongside Novak Djokovic before losing his singles match at the ATP 250 event to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Unfortunately for all Kyrgios' fans, his update on his wrist injury after his singles match wasn't very positive. The 2022 Wimbledon Championships finalist even put his Australian Open participation in doubt.

It's clear that Kyrgios might not be able to compete like he once did, even though his match against Mpetshi Perricard was a relatively high-level performance from the 2022 Australian Open doubles champion.

Following his outing in Brisbane, another tournament that will appear in Kyrgios' schedule in 2025 was announced, and it appears that the Australian player is not superstitious because he chose to compete in the tournament that almost ended his career.

In 2023, Kyrgios was coming back from a knee injury, and when it already seemed that he would be ready to compete, he injured his wrist, which put him out of play until now. According to his own words, he was given only a 15% chance of return.

That injury happened at the Mallorca Championships, where Kyrgios felt some discomfort in his wrist for the first time. Back then, he said he had "a lot going on" with his body, suggesting that the issue might not be related to his knee injury.

A few days later, when announcing his withdrawal from the Wimbledon Championships, the Australian player confirmed that he had torn his ligament.

"During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during the week of Mallorca. As a precaution, I had it scanned, and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist."

Now, two years later, Kyrgios will compete at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponca again, signing up 2025 Mallorca Championships, as announced by the tournament's official Instagram page.

"Nick Kyrgios Returns to the Mallorca Championships for 2025. Following his doubles appearance with Novak Djokovic in Brisbane, the Australian star is ready to shine again in Mallorca."

Kyrgios played in Mallorca only once before, in 2022. He won his first-round match against Laslo Djere, who he beat in three grueling sets, 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-6(1), before withdrawing prior to his second-round match against Roberto Bautista Agut.

Coincidentally, the tournament in Mallorca has already ended one player's career because of a wrist injury. In 2021, Dominic Thiem retired from his first-round match against Adrian Mannarino after suffering what ended up being a career-ending injury for the Austrian player.
