Carlos Alcaraz made an interesting fashion choice ahead of the 2025
US Open, shocking the whole tennis world with his new haircut.
Alcaraz is a great tennis player, but he is also someone who enjoys fashion and making a statement on the tennis court, not just with his racket. He loves to wear popular sneakers and
often surprises with his haircut choices.
It has happened a few times during his career already, and some of the Spaniard's haircuts divided the fans so much that some even asked for his barber to be jailed, thinking not all of Alcaraz's haircuts suited him.
Now, ahead of the 2025 US Open, he made the boldest choice yet. Alcaraz chose to rock a buzzcut, with many comparing it to the legendary buzzcut that David Beckham made famous in 2000.
Alcaraz's new haircut immediately became the new attraction at the US Open. Not only the fans, but even his rivals wanted to get a close look at the five-time Grand Slam champion's latest fashion choice.
Frances Tiafoe, who is one of Alcaraz's good friends on the
ATP Tour, met the 22-year-old after his win over Yosuke Watanuki, getting a closer look and talking to the Spanish player about the new haircut.
Alcaraz's new haircut could be a good distraction from the US Open pressure
Alcaraz is one of the top two favorites to win this year's US Open. The vast majority of tennis fans expect him to meet Jannik Sinner in the final, with the two playing in the last four finals of events they both entered.
Of course, there will be many players attempting to stop them, but the two are heavily favored to make it to the final. With great power comes great responsibility, they say, which is why Alcaraz has to face plenty of pressure.
Last year at the US Open, he was eliminated already in the second round, and maybe this year, he wants to distract everyone by making this bold fashion choice.
Alcaraz aims to challenge Sinner in the US Open final
Even Alcaraz wants to play against Sinner in the final. Speaking ahead of the event, he recognized the qualities of the other players, but also admitted he would want to play against the Italian on Sunday in two weeks.
"I think right now there are a lot of players who have a very good level. Obviously, Jannik has proven his superiority. I’ve been beaten a lot and I’ve perhaps had more difficult matches than him. But ultimately, the results show that we’ve both been up there."
"In the end, the one who deserves it will get it. The one who works hard to get there, will do it. There are people with a very high level who maybe now are going through a difficult time, but I’m sure they’ll get back to their best."
"Personally, I try to improve every day, watch a lot of matches, both of Jannik and others, to see what I can do better and give them as many problems as I can. Tennis evolves, both in terms of the courts and the balls, and we players cannot stand still. We have to keep growing."
"He has won the last three Grand Slams on hard courts. The level of tennis he’s producing on these surfaces is stunning, and in a way I take it as the benchmark so that I’m ready if I have to face him. Hopefully we’ll meet in the final. It would be a great result to play well here... and if I beat him, even better. He has a big target on his back right now."
