The 2026
Adelaide International is scheduled from January 12th to 17th, and the
prize money and ranking points for the
ATP and
WTA events have been released.
As usual, the
Adelaide International will provide preparation for the 2026 Australian Open, which starts the day after. Some players are hesitant to participate in tournaments that occur the week before a Grand Slam.
That concern has not prevented this year's edition from having strong entry lists. On the women's side,
Madison Keys and
Jessica Pegula, who contested the 2025 final, are set to be the Top Two seeds in Adelaide.
Keys perfectly demonstrated how playing a tournament before a Grand Slam can be useful. After overcoming her compatriot and close friend Pegula,
she stormed to her maiden Major title at the 2025 Australian Open.
Mirra Andreeva, Belinda Bencic,
Emma Navarro, and Victoria Mboko are among the other players
on the women's entry list. If all of them play, it will be a very strong draw for a
WTA 500 event.
On the men's side, Novak Djokovic was the most significant name on the entry list before he withdrew from the tournament. The tennis legend's quest for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title will have to start without appearing in Adelaide.
All the
ATP and
WTA players who appear in the main draw will fight for the biggest chunk of the
prize money available. There are some decent rewards for those who go far at the WTA 500 and ATP 250 events.
$185,500 and 500 points will be awarded to the 2026
Adelaide International women's singles champion. That contrasts with the $106,490 and 250 points guaranteed for the men's singles winner at the upcoming tournament.
If Pegula loses in the final again, she will leave Adelaide with $114,500 and 325 points. Sebastian Korda fell in last year's men's singles final against Felix Auger-Aliassime. That achievement will get a player $62,115 and 165 points.
Yulia Putintseva and Liudmila Samsonova were 2025's beaten
WTA semifinalists, and whoever replicates that is set to receive 195 points and $66,000. The men who reach that stage but no further will walk away with $36,520 and 100 points.
Four men and four women will advance to the quarterfinals. For the
WTA players, that will generate a reward of $33,470 and 108 points, while it is $21,155 and 50 points for the men. That is still not bad for getting through a couple of rounds at 500 and 200-level events.
The ranking points dip below six figures for women's players who reach the round of 16, with $17,235 and 60 points assured.
ATP losers in the round of 16 will leave Adelaide with $12,285 and 25 points.
A single ranking point is awarded to those who fall in the opening round of
WTA 500 events, marginally better than the no ranking points given at
ATP 250 level. The women's
prize money is $11,250 for an opening round loss, and the men's is $7,510.
