2025 Shanghai Masters ATP Draw with Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner in action

The 2025 Shanghai Masters will end this year's Asian swing, and the draw for the event is truly epic.

This will be the 14th edition of the Shanghai Masters, as this ATP Masters 1000 event was first held in 2009. Over the past 13 editions, there were only seven different champions. One man has been more successful than the rest, as Novak Djokovic is a four-time champion in Shanghai.

This year, it was unclear whether the Serbian legend would make his way to China and compete in Shanghai, but confirmation came a few days before the event, which means Djokovic now appears in the Shanghai Masters draw.

Despite barely playing this year, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is still the fourth seed. He, like all seeded players, has a first-round bye. In the second round, Djokovic could play against fellow major winner Marin Cilic, who will take on Corentin Moutet in the first round.

Although Djokovic's presence certainly makes the Shanghai Masters draw more exciting, all the focus will again be on the top two seeded players. Carlos Alcaraz is the name that lies on line number one.

The Spaniard will travel to Shanghai after ending his endeavors in Tokyo, where he started by injuring himself in his opening match. Alcaraz's further participation was initially in doubt, but he appears healthy enough to continue at the Japan Open, which is why he will likely also play in Shanghai.

If the six-time Grand Slam champion appears in China, he will take on the winner of the match between Learner Tien and Miomir Kecmanovic in the second round of the penultimate ATP Masters 1000 event.

On the very opposite side of the draw, line number 128, Jannik Sinner's name appears. The Italian player is the second seed and will start against Daniel Altmaier or one of the qualifiers.

The draw seems to be very balanced, as there are many players who could be considered dark horses distributed evenly throughout the draw. For example, Daniil Medvedev, who is a former world No. 1, could be Alcaraz's fourth-round opponent. The Russian will open against Yibing Wu or a qualifier.

Alexander Zverev also appears in Alcaraz's draw. He will also play against a qualifier or, in his case, Mariano Navone, in the second round. On the other hand, Sinner's possible fourth-round opponent is Alexander Bublik, who has been one of the best players on the Tour in the past few months.

Sinner also has Djokovic in his half, and his possible quarter-final opponent is the fifth-seeded Taylor Fritz. The American will start against Fabian Marozsan or Stan Wawrinka, who received a wild card.

Another player who is in Sinner's half is Ben Shelton. It's unclear whether the American will compete after missing all the tournaments following his injury at the US Open, but his appearance in the draw is already a positive sign. The sixth seed will take on David Goffin or Alexandre Muller in his first match in Shanghai.
