The 2025 Moselle Open will be one of the last two ATP 250 tournaments held this season, and the prize money details for the event have been published.
The Moselle Open, previously known as the Open de Moselle, is an indoor event held in Metz. The tournament was founded in 2003, and over the years, the likes of Novak Djokovic, Ivan Ljubicic, Gael Monfils, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have won the trophy in Metz.
This year, the field of players includes players like Alexander Bublik and Felix Auger-Aliassime, who both thrive in indoor conditions. Frances Tiafoe was supposed to compete in Metz as well, but he ended his season early and withdrew from the tournament.
That means the draw will open up a bit for players who will fight for their share of €596,035 between November 2nd to 8th when the tournament will be held. Benjamin Bonzi will be the defending champion in Metz, and if he manages to win the trophy again this year, he will earn more than he did in 2024.
Naturally, the offered prize money increased compared to last year, with this year's champion taking home €90,675 and 250 ATP ranking points, compared to last year's €88,125. It's not a massive increase, but it can still mean a meaningful difference for the champion.
In 2024, Cameron Norrie lost in the final. The British player received €51,400 for his efforts, but if he were to reach the same stage this year, his prize would be €52,890 and 165 ranking points.
The tournament was significantly impacted by withdrawals and retirements last year. Holger Rune, Grigor Dimitrov, Andrey Rublev, Ugo Humbert, and Arthur Rinderknech were players who withdrew or retired.
That huge list of withdrawals opened up the draw for other players, who normally wouldn't be among the favorites to play in the final stages of the tournament. If that happens this year, those who will capitalize on the offered chances can significantly boost their bank account balance as well as ATP ranking points total.
The two losing semi-finalists in Metz will each receive €31,090 and 100 points, while those who make it to the quarter-finals and lose will get €18,015 and 50 points for their efforts.
No one will leave Metz empty-handed. Those who reach the second round will get 25 ATP ranking points and €10,460, and even though the first-round losers won't receive any points, they will get €6,390 in prize money.
The Moselle Open in Metz, as one of the last two ATP 250 tournaments, might still decide about the last player who will make it to the ATP Finals this year, as Auger-Aliassime is one of the players in contention for the year-end championship.
