The first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season takes place at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters from April 6th until April 13th. There are significant financial incentives on offer for the players.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the defending champion. He has won the tournament three times and loves playing in Monte-Carlo more than any other venue. It is the only Masters 1000 event he has won.

Many other top players, including Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, are in the draw. Alcaraz has never won a match at the Monte-Carlo Masters and missed the previous two editions because of an injury.

That should give the Spaniard all the motivation he needs to strive for success. However, he and other players may also be incentivized to battle for large financial sums and ranking points.

The 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters champion will receive almost €1 million in prize money. The exact amount is €946,610, which is a vast amount for winning one tournament, even one as significant as a 1000-level event.

There are also 1000 points on offer for the winner. Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev could use those points to try to narrow the gap to Jannik Sinner, who cannot compete due to his ongoing suspension, at No. 1 in the rankings.

The Monte-Carlo runner-up will collect €516,925 for that impressive effort and 650 ranking points. Casper Ruud finished second to Tsitsipas last year before getting his revenge against the Greek at the 2024 Barcelona Open a week later.

Being one of the losing semifinalists will also be enough to attain lucrative rewards. The two men who fall at that stage of the tournament are guaranteed €282,650 and 400 ranking points.

Djokovic lost in the semifinals of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has won the title twice. It is the only 1000-level event in which he has not been the champion three times or more.

Players who progress to the quarterfinals will also be eligible for a six-figure sum of €154,170 and 200 ranking points. Holger Rune, Karen Khachanov, Ugo Humbert, and Alex de Minaur lost in last year's quarterfinals.

The prize money falls to five figures from the round of 16. €82,465 and 100 ranking points will be given to the eight men who do not progress past that stage of the prestigious clay court tournament.

Those in the round of 32 will have €44,230 added to their bank accounts and 50 points to their total in the rankings. The Top 8 seeds are guaranteed to get at least that far since they get byes in the opening round.

Only 10 ranking points are available for the men who lose in the first round of the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters. However, a pretty decent €24,500 being given might make those players feel better.

The Monte-Carlo Masters usually provides great entertainment, and this year should be no different. Alcaraz will hope to return to form, and he was recently told there are many areas for him to improve, despite his recent form not representing a crisis.
