The draw for the 2025 Korea Open in Seoul has been released, featuring an extremely exciting top quarter that includes the world No. 2 player.
Shortly after the US Open, the WTA season continues with yet another WTA 500 event. Following tournaments in Guadalajara (WTA 500) and Sao Paulo (WTA 250), a tournament will be held in Seoul (WTA 500).
After taking a week off following the New York Slam, world No. 2 player Iga Swiatek will be back in action as the only player from the Top 10. She is the top seed in Seoul, but her draw is truly brutal.
Like all top four seeded players, Swiatek has a first-round bye. She will await the winner of the match between Lin Zhu and Sorana Cirstea in the second round of the tournament. But her quarter-final match could be against one of the fellow Grand Slam champions in her part of the draw.
Swiatek could play against Barbora Krejcikova, who will start against a qualifier, or Emma Raducanu, who accepted a late wild card. The British player will take on Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the WTA 500 event in Seoul.
Ekaterina Alexandrova is the second-highest-ranked player who will play in Seoul. She is the world No. 11 and the second seed at the Korea Open. With a first-round bye, she is looking to prepare for a second-round match against Lois Boisson or home wild card Yeonwoo Ku.
Clara Tauson is the third seed. The Danish player has a huge serve, which helps her win many easy points. She might need that in her second-round match against Ashlyn Krueger or Eva Lys.
There are four Grand Slam champions in the draw. Three of them are in the top quarter (Swiatek, Krejcikova, Raducanu), and the fourth one is Sofia Kenin. The American player is the seventh seed and will play against Laura Siegemund in the first round.
Daria Kasatkina will be one of the favorites to win the title in Seoul, and the draw very much favours her. She has a first-round bye and will play against the home wild card Sohyun Park or one of the qualifiers in the second round. The Russian player will be a huge favorite to reach the quarter-finals.
In the quarter-finals, she could play against fellow compatriot Diana Shnaider, who is the fifth seed and doesn't have a first-round bye. Still, she will start against one of the qualifiers.
