The 2025 Chile Open in Santiago will be the final tournament of the golden swing in South America, and the prize money breakdown has been revealed.

Running from February 24th until March 2nd, the Chile Open is the only ATP 250 tournament occurring that week. The 2025 Dubai Championships and the 2025 Mexican Open, 500-level events, are the events that will be held simultaneously.

That means the Chile Open could easily be overshadowed. The event being scheduled the week before the 2025 Indian Wells Open also means no Top 20 players are on the entry list, as they want to practice on hard courts before the opening ATP Masters 1000 tournament of 2025.

Nonetheless, South American events always have a unique feeling no matter who is on the entry list because of the outstanding atmospheres the fans in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile create during the golden swing.

Although the financial rewards at ATP 250 events are never as high as those at the 500 level, the incentives in Santiago should still be good enough for the players to be motivated to go as far as possible.

The 2025 Chile Open winner will collect 250 ranking points and $103,455. Sebastian Baez is the defending champion after he defeated home hero Alejandro Tabilo in last year's final, recovering from losing the first set.

Whoever replicates Tabilo's achievement of finishing as the runner-up will earn $60,350 and 165 ranking points. Rafael Nadal, who recently discussed his rivalries with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, is the most notable runner-up in the tournament's history.

The mercurial Corentin Moutet and Pedro Martinez were the defeated semifinalists at the 2024 Chile Open. If they had reached that stage at this year's tournament in Santiago, they would have received 100 ranking points and $35,480.

Although the rewards begin to become more scant from the quarterfinals, there is still enough to make it a decent week for players. That is especially true for lower-ranked men who reach that stage.

50 ranking points and $20,555 will be given to the losing quarterfinalists. Arthur Fils and Nicolas Jarry, a Chilean, suffered surprising losses at that stage of the tournament in Santiago last year.

Players who win one match and reach the round of 16 will receive 25 ranking points and $11,935. Those who lose in the opening round will not receive ranking points but still earn $7,295.

While the absence of any Top 20 players from the 2025 Chile Open entry lists damages this year's event to some degree, Fabio Fognini's presence could generate fireworks and attention, depending on how the Italian is feeling.

Fognini is one of the most mercurial ATP players of the 21st century. His talent has never been in question, but he struggles to combine it with consistency to win matches at the highest level.

Although past his prime at the age of 37, Fognini still occasionally produces some unexpected magic, especially on his favored clay courts. He will hope to do that again in Santiago.
