January last year not only brought us a lot of tennis in Australia but also brought us the first season of Break Point, the Netflix tennis docu-series, which will air its second season in the coming weeks.
It was certainly an interesting watch for those who don't follow tennis as much, but as many pointed out, the first season of Break Point didn't show much of what die-hard tennis fans didn't know.
Sure, we saw how it looked from the inside, but it wasn't that revelatory. Despite all that, the series proved a success which is why it will be returning for a second season.
The first glimpse of the new season was posted by Netflix on social media, and it received some interesting responses. Fans were excited to see some newcomers such as Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, who are the future of tennis.
Some negative responses came at the inclusion of Alexander Zverev, due to his controversies off the court. From a pure tennis point of view, his journey from the ankle injury is potentially the most interesting story to watch, but that's not the case when it comes to his off-court life.
In any case, the new season of Break Point will air on January 10th, with the list of players included sitting at 16. The list of players includes Carlos Alcaraz, Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, Anett Kontaveit, Nick Kyrgios, Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, Jessica Pegula, Holger Rune, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Ajla Tomljanovic, and Alexander Zverev.
It's a pretty decent list of players, as some of them took part in the series last year. Some players that were there last year are not there this year, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas whose dynamic with girlfriend Paula Badosa, who is also a tennis player, could have been an interesting watch.
